Billy is the owner of Stott’s Nursery, the site on which we run our workshops and experiences, and is the Lead Instructor on many of our Horticulture workshops.

Over the last 10+ years, Billy has been heavily involved in Scouting and the outdoors, and loves nature, plants and all natural crafts.

Billy has worked in horticulture for all of his career and has a BSc degree in Horticulture. In both his professional and personal life, he loves to share his passion for plants and nature. You can see more about Billy and Stott’s Nursery by heading to

Ed is the Lead Instructor on our Campfire Cooking day.

With 20 years’ experience in the outdoors, Ed is a Scout Leader in Kent, where he has lit and cooked on more campfires than anyone could keep count of.

Ed has also previously managed a local Restaurant and Café, having been a barista and chef before that.

A multidisciplinary artist and educator, Lydia graduated with a BA in Fine Art from Leeds College of Art in 2014, and has exhibited her work across the UK. Over the past 2+ years, she has worked as a freelancer with galleries, museums, schools, artists, community and development groups running workshops and classes on a diverse range of themes. She is also a Tutor on the UAL Future Creatives short course programme.

Lydia lives for the outdoors; a keen hillwalker, climber and lover of plants, she also volunteers as a Cub Scout Leader.

Becci is an all-singing, all-dancing, Rugby-playing superstar. She is also a regular instructor on almost all of our workshops and experiences.

Becci has been with BackWoods since the very beginning, helping to plant trees, chop wood and paint buildings. Her experience in the outdoors and Scouting goes back over ten years, and BackWoods are thrilled to have her on board.
